30-Day Blogging Challenge, Day 19: Another picture of yourself.

Why should I post a picture of myself, I wonder. Then I began to think, why did I use to enjoy selca so much?

I guess it boosts your confidence level. It really does. Suddenly, taking a good picture becomes something much more important than anything else. That’s why you have a career for that. Modelling.

During my early high school years, my mother almost sent me to modelling school because I’m considered tall in Asia (though not in world-class standard). I said no, I don’t want to spend the rest of my life modelling. I’m a closet nerd, and I love reading books. (I ended up drawing for 4 college years anyway). But I had some experiences modelling for professionals – for video, for photograph, and for runway. I absolutely don’t enjoy it, and because of those experiences, I start to admire models and how adaptable they are in all sorts of situation and condition.

Rain or shine, you still have to wear little clothing, if that’s what you’re selling.

It’s a tough job.

Anyway, back to taking pictures of yourself: What do you think? Do you like your pictures taken? Are you comfortable with your physical appearance?

On the first day of this 30 day blogging challenge, I was prompted to post a picture of myself too. On that day, I didn’t really care whether I took a picture that I was satisfied with or not. But this time, I do.

I guess the lesson here is, all in all, taking care of yourself is the priority, lively looks and the living spirit inside.

30-Day Blogging Challenge, Day 18: Something you crave a lot.

Generally, I give in to my cravings a lot. Almost everyday. I’m also one of those lucky people who have a preference for healthier treats.

I hate wafers and crepes. But I love bread and froyo. And ice cream. And chocolate.

When it comes to sweets, it really depends. I generally don’t like something too sweet, including Japanese mochi. I like a hint of bitterness and texture to it, perhaps some adzuki beans to it or some green tea powder baked with it. I especially love sesame seeds, preferring the black version (even though the regular sesame seeds are healthier because the nutrients are still intact before they’re roasted into black).

I love almonds. I love all nuts. I go nuts once I dive into a bowl of cashews like I did during the Lunar New Year’s, when I visited my grandparents’ house and they have plenty of nuts on the guest table. I finished a huge pack of almonds I bought 3 days ago. And the week before I did the same, almonds gone within 3 days. Yes, I eat a high-fat diet. That’s the fact.

I also crave for watermelons these days, I don’t know why, maybe because the San Franciscan air is so dry these days. Well, we did get rains once in a few weeks, but it’s getting really cold here while my skin goes dry. Once I eat a dice of watermelon, suddenly the winter blues go away just for a second. And then they come back again. Oh well.

I used to can’t live without the crunchiness of a Gaia or Pink Lady apple a day. Or the juiciest and the biggest version of all – the Fuji apple. I know it’s weird to crave something so simple. But I generally surrender to my cravings. And I crave for normal stuff.

Well, if you want the unusual stuff, I love escargots. And seafoods. Oh my God don’t even get me started on seafood. I eat fish about twice a week, and last week I just had a big bowl of oysters. Last weekend I had dinner with a friend and we ate a big bowl of Korean pancakes that were cooked together with squids, scallops, and shrimps.

I would love some tofu and egg combination dish right now. Give me a big bowl and I can gorge it all down alone. But I want to share it with a fellow tofu and egg lover, my boyfriend.

Today, I gave in to my bread cravings. I ate a red bean bun today. and it’s not whole-wheat. Well, let’s see what I’ll be craving tomorrow… I certainly will satisfy it.
